Solarsnap

 You play as a lone fire mage living in a remote snowy tundra. You were heading home one night and a blizzard caught you off guard. Through the thick snow cover, you are unable to see the sinkhole ahead of you and are thrown from your sled and into the darkness below. Make your way through the ruins of the past and get home before you freeze. You must be careful though, your abilities drain your body heat and there is only so much warmth to go around.

Traveling by dog sled, back late from your coming-of-age ritual, you are beset by a terrible blizzard. Riding blindly through the haze, the ground begins to steeply descend into a crater. With little time to react, you try to make a sharp turn with your sled, but this only causes the whole thing to tip, sending you hurtling down into the crater below. 

You wake slowly, feeling the bitter cold sink into your core. High peaks surround you on all sides. Amongst the snowdrifts and dying trees, you see something else -- large, spined metal rings, buildings reduced to rubble, the ruins of a long-abandoned outpost. Stories of ancestors' past float through your mind. You remember tales of epic battles between man and beast, endless campaigns against the chaotic forces of nature, before the great freeze. This must have been the site of one of those battles. You feel a chill more potent than any the tundra could blow your way. At least you can take comfort in the fact that the beasts of old are probably long dead.
